S. Lena Kang-Birken, PharmD, FCCP, AAHIVP earned her bachelor of science in cell biology from California State University, Northridge and a doctor of pharmacy from University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Kang-Birken joined the Pacific family in 1994. What she loves about teaching at Pacific is the connections that are made between Pacific staff and students.

She is a Fellow of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and is certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. Dr. Kang-Birken is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America, the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists and the American College of Clinical Pharmacists. The individual who influenced her most in her career is Michael Rybak, PharmD who is the Director of the Research Fellowships at Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich.

Actively involved in her community, she is a part of the Congregation B'nai Brith Mitzvah Group. She enjoys being outdoors, especially running or sailing, and she is always up for an adventure. She also enjoys cooking. Her philosophy about life is to make every moment count.
