Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Kolluru is passionate about student learning by fostering innovative teaching methods, including flipped classrooms, scenario-based learning, and team-based learning to bridge the gap between basic and clinical sciences. His courses span across medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and pharmacotherapy, where he integrates real-world applications and encourages critical thinking. Dr. Kolluru has developed several multidisciplinary courses, aiming to create dynamic, student-centered learning environments. His teaching style emphasizes active learning and the use of technology to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Research Summary
Dr. Kolluru’s research focuses on medicinal chemistry, drug discovery and pharmacology, with a focus on developing small molecule inhibitors for HIV, cancer and pulmonary diseases. His work in rational drug design has led to novel strategies for inhibiting HIV integrase and identifying anticancer targets, such as HPV16 oncoproteins, and allosteric modulators for cannabinoid receptors. He has also explored drug repurposing to improve therapies for non-small cell lung cancer. Beyond drug discovery, Dr. Kolluru is committed to advancing pharmaceutical education through research on innovative teaching methods, critical thinking development and active learning strategies.
