Dr. Burmeister is Director of Bioengineering and Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department. He received B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Delaware and a Ph.D. from Duke University in Biomedical Engineering. He joined the University of the Pacific in 2002 following a Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellowship at The University of Georgia. Dr. Burmeister also has industrial experience both as a mechanical engineer and a biomedical engineer. His interests focus on biomaterials and engineering education.  In his free time he enjoys hiking, skiing and snowboarding.
