Eberhardt alumnus Robert Barsamian ’07 earned “40 under 40” recognition by the professional organization Staffing Industry Analysts.

Robert Barsamian ’07, a marketing graduate, credits his education at University of the Pacific for much of his success in the workforce industry.

His efforts were recognized recently as one of the “40 Under 40” national standouts by the professional organization Staffing Industry Analysts. 

“The Eberhardt Career Center with Margaret Roberts was hands down the great part of the business program because they prepared me for my future,” Barsamian said. “As a matter of fact, Margaret got me my interview with (current employer) Aerotek, and I have been here ever since.”

Roberts is director of the Eberhardt School of Business Career Management Center. 

Aerotek is a staffing and workforce solutions analysis firm with locations throughout the United States. Barsamian, 34, joined the firm out of college as a recruiter and now serves as a delivery solutions executive. Barsamian helped start a new venture for the firm in Arizona focused on high-volume recruiters. He later opened a center in Phoenix and helped build additional centers in California and Pennsylvania. 

In his “40 Under 40” recognition, Barsamian said: “I’m proud of what we have built and honored for the opportunity. It is ultimately about building your legacy and creating opportunities for people. My biggest enjoyment in my role is being empowered to make bold decisions and offer recommendations.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused some changes in his work, notably the elimination of travel and a shift to remote work. 

“Some new opportunities have presented themselves and we are working to take advantage of those opportunities to propel us forward through the pandemic,” he said. “Luckily for me, I work for a financially strong organization which cares for and supports their people in all facets. I have seen a great increase in my partnerships across my company and deeper relationships with my wife (Elizabeth) and daughter (Kaylee) with the increased time we get together.” 

Barsamian entered Pacific as a pharmacy major but discovered a passion for business. 

“Because I changed majors while at Pacific, I learned that the nature of change, and the fear of change, can paralyze many people,” he said. “But embracing change and moving through it rapidly will always advance you further than where you started.” 

His advice for students? 

“Set opinions aside and embrace all experiences that come your way. Do not be fearful of creating new relationships, because they might change your life. My closest relationships today are the ones I made at Pacific.”
