Food historian's hand-carved spoons featured in new exhibit
More than 60 hand-carved spoons and hand-thrown pottery created by Professor of History Ken Albala are on display in the Reynolds Gallery at University of the Pacific.
Albala, who specializes in food history, began carving about two years ago.
"I became a spoon carver completely accidentally and started using wood from my own front yard and from the neighborhood and from trees that have fallen on campus ... It's been a lot of fun," Albala said.
"Spoon: A food historian learns to carve" is on display through March 15. The Reynolds Gallery is located on Pacific's Stockton Campus at 1071 W. Mendocino Ave. and is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
