McGeorge School of Law’s programs shine in preLaw Magazine rankings
University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law continues to rise and earn accolades for its innovative educational initiatives and commitment to training lawyers who match the growing diversity of California and the nation.
In the Winter 2022 edition of preLaw Magazine, McGeorge was named among the top law schools in the United States for Hispanics and Asians, was named one of the 25 most innovative law schools, and earned top marks in Public Policy and Trial Advocacy. McGeorge School of Law ranked 12th in the nation for Asians and 32nd in the nation for Hispanics in the publication’s rankings. McGeorge also made preLaw Magazine’s Diversity Honor Roll.
Forty-five percent of McGeorge’s Class of 2024 identifies as ethnically or racially diverse. McGeorge was also recognized as the No. 7 law school in the nation in terms of having the "Greatest Resources for Minority Students" in the Princeton Review's 2019 Best Law Schools rankings.
“McGeorge has long been committed to recruiting and supporting students from diverse backgrounds,” said Larry Levine, Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. “These rankings reflect our dedication to fostering a more diverse and inclusive legal profession while also showing that we can do more to achieve that.”
Pacific’s law school was recognized as one of the 25 most innovative law schools in the country, with specific recognition for its innovation in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. preLaw Magazine point launched Homeless Advocacy Clinic, which places a focus on helping formerly incarcerated individuals experiencing homelessness, as one of the reasons McGeorge is seen as an innovator in legal education.
For the second straight year, McGeorge earned an A+ ranking in Trial Advocacy and an A ranking in Public Policy Law and is one of two law schools in the nation, and the only one on the West Coast, to achieve that feat. These rankings come on the heels of an 8th in the nation Trial Advocacy ranking in last year’s U.S. News and World Report and a 3rd in the nation ranking for Government Law by preLaw Magazine last summer.
