Pacific launches robust fall remote activities series

University of the Pacific will launch an exciting and robust schedule with more than 200 weekly signature events this fall semester that will explore some of today’s most important issues from social justice, to the 2020 presidential election, COVID-19, culture, careers and more.

Pacific students from across the country and around the world will be able to meet virtually to learn from world-renowned experts and leading Pacific faculty and alumni every week during the fall 2020 co-curricular activities series, which begins August 24.

The series includes activities, conversations, panel discussions, concerts and events each week to provide an engaging and academically rich educational experience for students and the Pacific community. The weekly sessions will showcase the extraordinary depth and breadth of Pacific’s programs and offerings, and feature our outstanding faculty and staff, as well as offer networking opportunities for future engineers, artists, athletes, teachers, musicians, lawyers, pharmacists, dentists, business leaders, health care professionals and more.

Here is the initial lineup, with more being planned:

Mondays

  • Doctor Does What? 4–5 p.m. (College of the Pacific)
  • Cooking with Pacific’s Leaders 5–6 p.m. (President’s Office)
  • Engineering and Computer Science Colloquium 7–8 p.m. (School of Engineering and Computer Science)

Tuesdays

  • United We Roar noon–1 p.m. (Athletics Department)
  • Research Tuesdays 4–5 p.m. (Graduate School)
  • COVID-19 and Your Health 5:30–6:30 p.m. (School of Health Sciences, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy)

Wednesdays

  • Career Connected 11 a.m.–noon (Career Services Center)
  • Alumni noon–1 p.m. (Pacific Alumni Association)
  • The Future of Learning 5–6 p.m. (Benerd College)
  • Presidential Election Series: Pacific Talks Politics 4–5 p.m. (Department of Political Science)
  • Modern Legal Issues and Law Practice 6–7 p.m. (McGeorge School of Law)

Thursdays

  • Pacific Book Club noon–1 p.m. (University Libraries)                                
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Dialogue: Cultivating Transformative Leaders 3:30–4:30 p.m. (University Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion)
  • Developing Tomorrow's Business Leaders 5:30–6:30 p.m. (Eberhardt School of Business)
  • Concert Series 7:30 p.m. (Conservatory of Music)

Fridays

  • Cultures from Around the World noon–1 p.m. (School of Health Sciences and School of International Studies)

Headliner speakers are being scheduled throughout the fall and will include renowned names such as PBS NewsHour anchor Judy Woodruff, Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll ’73, ’78, Jane Chu, former chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts, U.S. Appeals Court Justice Connie Callahan ’75 and U.S. District Judge Morrison England ’76, ’83, CNN politics host John King and Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, among others.
