Dr. Carsen Bentley ’11 Honored with ADA 10 Under 10 Award
Dugoni School faculty member and alumnus Dr. Carsen Bentley ’11 was recently honored with the American Dental Association (ADA) 10 Under 10 Award, which recognizes 10 new dentists who demonstrate excellence early in their careers. These rising stars in dentistry make an impact on the profession less than 10 years after graduating from dental school through their work in science, research and education, practice excellence, philanthropy, leadership and advocacy.
“I am so proud to be a part of this profession and organized dentistry,” said Dr. Bentley. “Being recognized for these past 10 years confirms all the hard work that is necessary to keep the public's trust in our profession through organized efforts and helping the most vulnerable members of our community.”
Dr. Bentley has devoted a large portion of his dental career to the Indian Health Service (IHS) at the Native American Health Center as its Associate Dental Director, where he works with underserved populations. At IHS, he implemented the Every Day Connect program, an initiative that is part of San Francisco’s Project Homeless Connect that helps fabricate dentures for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Dr. Bentley has been recognized for his work with the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, where he was awarded the Community Dentistry and Dental Public Health Award. He also received the Community Service Award from the Dugoni School of Dentistry. He remains active in organized dentistry as a member of the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association, where he is the current Chair of the Grants and Awards Committee for the CDA Foundation. He is also a member of the San Francisco Dental Society, where he serves as the current Secretary.
