Melany Alcazar '24

Major: Business Administration - Management and Human Resources and Business Administration - Marketing

I got an internship, I am going to grad school, and I landed a full time job.

I currently serve as the Assistant Director for Career Services at the University of the Pacific, where I help connect our exceptional students with valuable opportunities. In my role, I support the organization of career fairs and develop workshops to enhance students' professional skills. I also collaborate with employers to connect talent, work with other departments and faculty to align career services with students goals, and provide one-on-one coaching sessions to assist students with resume writing, interview preparation, and career planning.

I recently completed a full-time internship at Tesla as a Recruiting Intern on their Mexico team. My responsibilities included conducting international interviews, communicating with managers, and aligning their needs with top talent. I played a key role in sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating international panel interviews, and developing strategies to improve the hiring process. Additionally, I gained valuable experience in using advanced recruitment tools and platforms, contributing to Tesla's global talent acquisition goals.

I am pursuing a Master's degree in International Business Administration at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and am excited to graduate within the next year. The guidance from Career Services was invaluable in preparing my grad school applications, especially in refining my personal statement and preparing for interviews, which has significantly contributed to my academic journey.

I am incredibly grateful to Career Services and their staff for their unwavering support and the valuable resources they've provided throughout my academic and professional journey at the University of the Pacific. Career Services played a pivotal role in securing my full-time internship at Tesla through their Mock Interview Week. During this event, I had the opportunity to interview with a representative from Tesla, who subsequently helped me connect with an internship recruiter. This experience was instrumental in my professional growth and success.

I began working at Career Services as a Student Career Coach, never imagining that I would eventually land a full-time job in Career Services at the University of the Pacific. This role allows me to pursue two of my greatest passions: supporting students and connecting talent to opportunities.
